COB, CEO, 10%
Sardar Biglari is an American entrepreneur and investor born in 1977 in Tehran, Iran. He graduated from Trinity University and launched his career by founding Biglari Capital in 2000, an SEC-registered investment advisor managing private partnerships like The Lion Fund. Early successes included activist investments in restaurant chains, such as acquiring stakes in Western Sizzlin Corporation, where he became chairman and CEO in 2006, restructuring it into a holding company model.
In 2008, Biglari joined the board of Steak 'n Shake amid financial distress and swiftly became its chairman and CEO, turning daily losses of $100,000 into profits of the same magnitude by 2011 through operational overhauls. That year, he rebranded the parent entity as Biglari Holdings Inc. (BH), a diversified holding company spanning restaurants, insurance, media, oil and gas, and investments, where he serves as founder, chairman, CEO, and controlling shareholder with about 70% voting power. His tenure has featured high-profile proxy battles, notably a 14-year campaign against Cracker Barrel that generated over $1 billion in value for shareholders.
Currently, at age 47, Biglari holds key roles including president of Steak 'n Shake subsidiaries, CEO of Biglari Capital and Abraxas Petroleum Corp., and director at Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater San Antonio. As a major insider owning significant Class B shares in BH, he continues to drive capital allocation and investments across its portfolio.
