About Francesco Trapani

Francesco Trapani (1957 – 10 September 2025) was an Italian luxury goods executive and investor best known for transforming Bulgari from a family jewelry business into a global luxury brand and later serving as an independent director of Tiffany & Co., where he sat on the board from 2017 until his resignation in late 2019.( A great‑grandson of Bulgari founder Sotirio Bulgari, Trapani became CEO of Bulgari in 1984 at age 27, leading its international expansion into watches, fragrances, accessories, and hospitality, including the launch of Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, and ultimately overseeing the company’s 2011 sale to LVMH.( Following the transaction, he served as Chairman and CEO of LVMH’s Watches & Jewelry Division and remained on the LVMH board until 2016.(

Beyond Bulgari and LVMH, Trapani built a prominent career in private equity and corporate governance as Executive Chairman and controlling shareholder of VAM Investments Group, co‑founder and leader of Bluebell Capital Partners, and senior executive or director at firms including Clessidra, Tages, De Beers Jewellers, Roberto Cavalli, and several LVMH jewelry and watch maisons.( At Tiffany & Co., he joined the board as part of an agreement with activist investors and played a role in strategic oversight ahead of the jeweler’s acquisition by LVMH.( Trapani held a degree in business economics from the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and completed specialized studies in business administration at New York University before entering Bulgari in 1981 as assistant to the CFO.( He later also served on Salesforce’s Advisory Board for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, reflecting his stature as a leading figure in global luxury and retail.(
